Wild horses

“MAY THE SPIRIT OF THE WILD HORSES BLOW THROUGH YOUR HAIR.

MAY THE THUNDERING OF THEIR HOOVES ELEVATE YOUR HEART.

MAY THE GRACE AND BEAUTY THAT IS THEIRS FLOW ALL AROUND” unknown

A dream came true for me to capture the wild horses of the kaimanawa ranges, central plateau, NZ in 2020.

This trip was made possible with the Kaimanwa Heritage Horses trust along with Kelly Wilson and is held once a year. The horses roam freely on Ministry of Defence land and are protected. With the herd now being managed at 400 horses, each year a Kaimanawa Horse Muster takes place to rehome excess horses. KHH’s key role in this is to source suitable homes, and to ensure that the horses that are removed from the range go on to have a good quality of life in domestication.
